Former Leeds United, Leicester City and Manchester City man REJECTS Celtic’s short-term deal

The Scottish giants now without a goalkeeper after to Joe Hart’s decision to hang up his gloves. Sky Sports reports that the team has its sights set on a former Manchester City teammate of Hart’s.

There have reportedly been discussions with Schmeichel on a temporary relocation to Scotland. After his contract with Belgian team Anderlecht expired, the 37-year-old became a free agent.

Even while Schmeichel is not a long-term fix, he could help Celtic restore the experience they have lost in goal. The

Premier League’s Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been connected to him.

Early in his career, Schmeichel, a graduate of Manchester City’s academy, was competing with Hart for Premier League minutes. Before going permanently to Notts County in 2009, he had been loaned out five times.

After a standout season with the Magpies, he was able to transfer to Leeds the following year. Despite his promise at Elland Road, he struggled to fit in at the team because of his father Peter’s Manchester United affiliation.

After joining Leicester City in 2011, the Dane made over 400 appearances and won the Premier League. Schmeichel never looked back.

Since concluding his lengthy relationship with the Foxes, Schmeichel has played his trade in France with Nice and in Belgium with Anderlecht.
