Football Insider has been informed by sources that

Newcastle United is still considering making a fresh approach for

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, an Everton striker, following

the breakdown of earlier negotiations.

Before the June 30th financial deadline, Newcastle tested the

market for Calvert-Lewin on a low-cost deal, according

to senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking on

the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

But when they couldn’t make room in their team,

the agreement fell through.

According to sources, Everton is eager to sign the 27-year-old to

a long-term deal, but negotiations are still underway

and no agreement has been reached.

In light of this, Calvert-Lewin will have to make

a “huge” decision on his next move when the summer transfer window closes.

Plotting by Newcastle United is “huge” Deal on Dominic Calvert-Lewin

For a meager £1.5 million, Calvert-Lewin left Sheffield

United to join Everton in 2016. Since then,

he has made 247 appearances for the team.

He has scored 68 goals in that period, despite

having a lackluster season last year with only seven goals in 32 league appearances.

Clubs are reportedly concerned about his inconsistent injury history.
Newcastle is eager to take advantage of the striker’s circumstances as his current contract at Goodison Park is scheduled to expire in the summer of 2019.

In the event that no agreement is reached this summer and negotiations between the striker’s agents and Everton are fruitless, Calvert-Lewin may be available for free the next season.

Eddie Howe’s team is trying to improve their offensive alternatives behind Alexander Isak because Callum Wilson’s future is uncertain.

Newcastle is trying to sell Wilson this summer to make room in their roster, as Football Insider reported, but they haven’t been able to get many interested in a deal.
Everton Howe of Newcastle United is renowned for favoring homegrown players, and the addition of Calvert-Lewin would also assist the team in adhering to UEFA and FA registration regulations.
