Before this summer, Steph Curry and LeBron James had never collaborated on a Team USA game. However, that changed when James called Curry in the fall. “He was the first person I talked to,” Curry stated in recent days, as reported by ESPN.

“‘Would this be something I would want to do?’ And from there it was like, ‘Let’s get it.” Curry has represented Team USA in the FIBA World Cup in 2010 and 2014, but he has never been to the Olympics.

“I’ve played with Team USA before on the world championship stage, but I don’t know what to expect when it comes to this challenge and this experience. So I had the first-practice jitters”

“Combine the bizarre mix of individuals on this team, the struggles we’ve faced throughout our lives, and the opportunity to channel that energy as a team. Thus, I’m loving every second of it.

Curry went on to say that despite their heated Finals matchups throughout the years, he had the utmost respect for James.

Regarding his playoff confrontations with James, Curry remarked, “It was like a healthy resentment of somebody that’s standing in your way.” “Yet despite everything, there is undeniable respect for both his character and skill, as well as the challenge of trying to defeat him and find a solution to that issue each year.”

In Team USA’s first Olympic warm-up game against Canada on Wednesday, the once-rivals-turned-allies produced a memorable moment on the court when Curry fed James for a forceful alley-oop.

On July 15, Team USA will play their next match in Abu Dhabi against Australia.
