The most recent information as Newcastle’s hunt for offensive potential goes on

According to sources, Newcastle United and Lille have started

discussions about a possible trade for clinical

center forward Jonathan David. According to FootballTransfers,

French football journalist Jacque Talbot has learned

that the Magpies have a great deal of respect for the Canadian international,

who just returned from the Copa America following a

2-0 loss to holders Argentina in the semi-final.

David is only two goals shy of tying Cyle Larin’s record

of 29 goals scored in 53 appearances for the national team.

He has scored an amazing 27 goals. The 24-year-old

was a major factor in the Reds’ recent footballing comeback

and helped them secure a spot in the 2022 World Cup—their

first appearance at the competition since they lost in the group stage in 1986.

David, who scored 71 goals in 146 games after joining from Gent in 2020,

has long been seen as one of the top strikers in Ligue 1.

The forward, who can play as a central offensive midfielder or a striker,

is well-known for his quickness and ability to go past defenses.

Should Alexander Isak join St. James’ Park, he might be a valuable

addition to the team. With 19 goals and four assists in 34 games last season,

he finished second in French football scoring and helped his team to

a fourth-place result.

Newcastle and Lille get along well because of the former

players’ successful transfers of Sven

Botman, Yohan Cabaye, and Matheui Debuchy to

St. James’ Park. Lille values David highly,

but as he is nearing the end of his

Stade Pierre-Mauroy deal,

the team may decide to trade him this summer

rather than take a chance on losing him for nothing in a year.

Isak and Callum Wilson are Newcastle’s primary

offensive options right now,

but considering both players’ injury histories from previous seasons,

the Toon supporters would probably welcome a third striker with open arms.

Four wingers are on Newcastle’s shortlist.

According to reports, Newcastle United has narrowed down

their summer transfer target list to four wingers.

After a stellar season with the Bees in which he scored nine

goals and six assists and emerged as the outstanding performer in

Ivan Toney’s absence, Talbot stated that Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford is one of

the names that Newcastle is interested in.

Mbeumo is a right-sided winger by trade, but his exceptional movement

and strength to hold off defenders have also shown

that he can score goals when used as a center forward.

Crysencio Summerville, the Championship Player of the

Season and standout player for Leeds United, is another top target

who is recognized for scoring goals. The Dutch star is striving for

a return to the top leagues, with several clubs expressing interest.

He scored 20 goals and provided nine assists in 46 Championship games for Leeds.

Wolves winger Pedro Neto is another target that refuses to go away

and he has been linked with a move up North for the best part of 12 months.

Neto is known for his immense technical ability and is able to

often create chances out of nothing – scoring two goals and

providing nine assists. However, his injury record has been

questioned in recent weeks, with him missing 18 games last term.

According to Talbot, Noni Madueke, a young player for Chelsea,

is the last name Newcastle has on its radar. The January 2023 arrival of

the England U21 international from PSV has won over supporters

with his ability to dash at defenders and create opportunities.

He has established himself as one to watch going forward

after contributing twice and scoring five goals for Chelsea.

However, he is reportedly eager to establish himself as a first team regular in order to push his way into the England side in time for the 2026 World Cup.

Anthony Gordon was able to establish himself as

a full senior international thanks to Newcastle in the past;

if Madueke were to come to St. James’ Park, he could follow in

the Liverpudlians footsteps.
