As they get ready for the new Premier League season, Leicester City will train behind closed doors against

La Liga team Villarreal next week. On Monday, the team will travel to Evian-les-Bains on Lake

Geneva, where they regularly hold pre-season drills. At the conclusion of their workweek, on Saturday, July 20, City will play a training match against Villarreal, the Spanish team has confirmed. New manager Steve Cooper is leading the City squad there.

Since the game isn’t open to the public, City won’t make an announcement. In addition, since both teams are only beginning their preseason schedules, the game won’t be overly competitive—especially when contrasted to the friendly encounter between the two teams at King Power Stadium three years prior, which is still remembered for

Wesley Fofana’s leg break.

Given that Ligue 2 team Annecy is scheduled to train nearby for an hour, it’s possible that the City team will be split up for the match. When City plays Shrewsbury on Tuesday, July 23, following their return from Evian, it will be their first official friendly.

At the end of that week, there will be a second local friendly before the team departs for yet another training camp in Europe. The friendly match versus Bundesliga team Augsburg will mark the end of the second trip, which will take place in Germany.

After returning, City will work at Seagrave for one additional week before taking a plane to Lens for their last preseason game. The following Monday is their Premier League debut against Tottenham.
