Daniel Farke will be putting the majority of his team through

its paces in preparation for the Whites’ first preseason

game against Harrogate Town on Friday, eight days away.

Junior Firpo, a Dominican Republic international,

is among the many important players in Farke’s team who have

already returned to Thorp Arch in anticipation of the promotion push that awaits them the next season.

The final Olympic roster for the Dominican Republic includes Junior Firpo.
Following his participation in June international matches

for his nation in an unconventional offensive midfield role,

it appeared like Firpo would be playing in the same position in July.
Firpo is ranked number 10 on the Dominican Republic’s final roster,

which has been confirmed ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The fact that the Olympic football competition

is scheduled to run from July 24 to August 9 is a problem for Leeds,

as Firpo would have to miss a significant portion of preseason

and maybe the beginning of the season.

Glad to see Aaronson again?

Leeds will prevent Firpo from competing with

the Dominican Republic at the Olympics
According to LeedsLive, those at Elland Road were

taken aback by Firpo’s inclusion on their final roster,

since they had anticipated the

left-back to be included in pre-season training.

Firpo will not be allowed to play for his country

this month despite arriving early for the first day of camp.

Since the Olympic competition is not scheduled inside

the FIFA calendar, clubs are free to refuse to release

their players for duty.

Mateo Joseph is in the same situation

as he has been mentioned as a possible call-up for the Spain team; yet,

he is also at Thorp Arch and will not be playing.
Leeds made the right choice, preventing needless

hardship for Firpo and associates
Leeds will always have to manage Firpo’s fitness

over a tedious 46-game season, but it is not ideal

to give him a jumbled and frantic preseason.

Therefore, there’s no way the team would allow

him to play in France if a transfer or other

underlying problem wasn’t occurring.

He’s not going to the Olympics, which is a huge

plus since it means he’ll be important to our future season.
