That’s why it came as such a surprise when Denmark rejected the midfield player from their

Euro 2024 roster in June.

The 23-year-old, who scored in Celtic’s 6-4 friendly victory over Queen’s Park on Wednesday,

is still attracting a lot of interest.

According to reports, Atalanta, the winners of the Europa League,

have now made a formal offer to sign the Dane. Teun Koopmeiners, who is being pursued by

Juventus, is expected to leave the Serie A team, and O’Riley may be a ready-made

successor to help lead them back to the Champions League.

The English Premier League clubs are reportedly circling the Dane as well,

so there is fierce rivalry for his talents.

Although Southampton is rumored to have put up a £20 million bid,

Brendan Rodgers may need to make a larger offer before he lets his top player leave Celtic Park.

O’Riley has a contract with the Scottish Premiership winners that runs through 2027.

The midfielder said that the rumors about his future did affect him after Atletico

Madrid made an attempt to get O’Riley to leave the United Kingdom in January of last year, but Celtic turned them down.

“To be really honest, the first two or three games following the transfer window were mentally challenging for me because I felt like there was a little bit more pressure on my shoulders,” he remarked.

However, I then realized that I wasn’t really sure why I was placing further strain on myself. Nothing really needed to be changed on my end. I sort of moved past that and concentrated on my contributions to the team. It slid back into position. No matter how good things go, every season will present a unique set of challenges.”
