Charlie Cresswell, a Leeds United defender, has allegedly restarted talks with French club Toulouse.

Last week, the 21-year-old appeared to be close to a move to Ligue 1, but rumors indicated discussions had gone down. It was claimed that an agreement could not be reached on personal conditions.

A £3.8 million transfer had been discussed, however Cresswell was recently spotted at Thorp Arch for pre-season testing. The BBC reports that talks have resumed, and the move is now back on track. He is allegedly planning to fly to France this weekend to have a medical before moving to the Stadium de Toulouse. There is also reported Championship interest in his services, and a number of clubs have previously been linked.

He spent the 2022/23 season on loan with Millwall, and reports of interest from the Lions have appeared several times in the past year. Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers have previously been linked as prospective suitors.

Despite conjecture, Cresswell stayed at Leeds for the remainder of the 2023/24 season. Although he remained in the ranks, his playing time was limited, with only five league games.

He now appears to be preparing for a new challenge overseas, which he is said to be receptive to. Cresswell, who came up through Leeds’ system, has 14 senior appearances for the club.
