Adam Pope claims that Charlie Cresswell, a defender for Leeds United,

may complete his move from the team in less than 48 hours if talks with Toulouse resume.

According to BBC journalist Pope, who spoke

on X [5 July], Cresswell is actually scheduled to

depart Elland Road this weekend, with plans to return to

the French outfit now resuming.

The transfer seemed to be off after a first personal breakdown,

but it has since been “revived,” so the 21-year-old should receive his chance.

“I understand Charlie Cresswell, a defender for Leeds United,

has had his move to Toulouse revived,” Pope said on Friday morning.

“Earlier this week, the deal broke down on personal issues.

In the next 48 hours, negotiations recommenced to

push it over the finish line. There is also

championship interest in the center back.

The Leeds United chapter of Charlie Cresswell is coming to close.

Given that Daniel Farke has not truly included

Cresswell in his plans since the German took over in

West Yorkshire, this agreement is optimal for both sides.
In five Championship games last season, the 6’3″ center-half

only made one start for Leeds; a fresh start in France might be

the spark his still-developing career sorely needs.

Cresswell, who came up through Thorp Arch’s academy ranks,

will be sad to be leaving the team permanently,

but he has been preparing for this for a while, especially when it was revealed Farke will stay in his position.

It should come as no surprise that the England U21 international is interested in the Championship after proving his mettle when on loan at Millwall in 2022–2023 and even showing an eye for goal in a team that narrowly missed the play-offs that season.

Toulouse is a rising star in France. They placed 11th in Ligue 1 last season, which is an improvement over their 13th-place result the year before, which was their lowest since winning the Ligue 2 championship in 2022.

Every Leeds fan will wish Cresswell the best of luck in the future if this is the end for him.
