Maxi Araujo, a player for Uruguay,

is reportedly of interest to Nottingham Forest.

The adaptable winger has drawn attention for

his nation during the Copa America this summer.

His outstanding performance seems to have many clubs on high alert.

Araujo’s contract with Toluca allegedly has

a 20 million euro (£17 million) release clause.

According to reports, it’s expected that someone will set it off soon,

and the Reds will probably have to struggle to sign him.

Aston Villa and Forest have reportedly

“begun the first contacts” with the 24-year-old’s Mexican club,

according to Spanish media outlet AS.

Although there are no official offers reported as of yet,

it “will not take long” for them to appear.
Along with Barcelona, a few of the “Big Six”

of the Premier League are reportedly keeping an eye on him.

According to AS, “negotiations are expected to be tough”

and Toluca will not settle for anything less than the player’s release clause’s worth.

Araujo, who is left-footed, can play on the wing, in center midfield, and at left back. Prior to Uruguay’s match this weekend against Brazil in the quarterfinals of the Copa America, he has scored two goals and provided an assist for his team.

So far this summer, Forest has brought in three new players. This week, Elliot Anderson signed a contract with Newcastle United, following the signings of Marko Stamenic and Eric da Silva Moreira.

The club’s transfer window has gotten off to a strong start, but there is still work to be done before the August 30 deadline. Supporting attacking options under head coach Nuno Espirito Santo would be beneficial as the Reds aim to advance in the Premier League the following season.

Because he likes to work with a small team, the Portuguese likes to have players with adaptability. That describes Anderson, and Araujo would undoubtedly do the same.
