Tottenham release clause to sign ‘world-class’ player this summer
Over the years, Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t exactly
established a practice of paying the top dollar for players.
It’s no secret that Daniel Levy, the chairman of the Spurs,
is regarded as one of the sport’s hardest negotiators.
Spurs and Sporting CP were engaged in protracted
negotiations just eighteen months
prior regarding a potential Pedro Porro transfer.
After acquiring their target, Spurs signed the Spaniard,
who is now an important member of Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
However, the fact that the trade was finalized on
deadline day angered supporters because
Tottenham tried to sign Porro for less than his release clause.
And if the Lilywhites want to sign a current Premier League player,
they may run into a similar circumstance this summer.
Spurs “unlikely” to fulfill Eberechi Eze’s release clause
Eberechi Eze has been linked to Spurs for a while,
and the Crystal Palace star has already been contacted about a potential signing.
The 26-year-old’s current contract at Selhurst
Park reportedly includes a release clause worth up to £68 million.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has described
the likelihood of Spurs fulfilling the provision as remote,
even though Palace is “a little bit nervous” about Eze’s future.

Crystal Palace. Thus, I believe that this is a transaction
that will call for a little more endurance,” the reporter stated.
Additionally, I don’t believe Eze is attempting to leave at this time.
However, it’s evident that they can offer
European football and a wage increase when teams of that caliber,
like Tottenham or Arsenal, make an approach.

players are in demand due to their strong season-ending play.

It is improbable that Arsenal or Spurs will find benefit in activating the release clause.
