Rangers’ interest in Oussama Targhalline prompts Le Havre to take action.

According to Josue Casse, Le Havre are preparing to fend off Rangers’ interest in midfielder Oussama Targhalline.

The Foot Mercato journalist announced on his X page [3 July] that the French club is now in talks with their player to extend his current deal, which expires in 2025.

Casse then adds that Rangers are the key club interested in 22-year-old Targhalline, but that no club has made an approach to Le Havre this summer.

The post says, “Exclusive, [Foot Mercato].” Le Havre talks to Oussama Targhalline. Ongoing conversations about extending the Le Havre midfielder’s contract.”Despite the interests expressed [from Rangers], the club has received, to date, no offer.”

Rangers have been expectedly and crucially active in the transfer market thus far, with Philippe Clement and his recruitment team working hard to shuffle the pack at Ibrox.

Four new faces have already entered the building, joining the permanent arrivals Mohammed Diomande and Oscar CortesTarghalline is a midfield target who won the Ligue 2 title with Le Havre in 2022-23 after signing midway through that season from Marseille.

The Moroccan youth international joins a list of midfield targets that includes Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga, who is also desired by Sevilla.

The Gers thought to be in talks to bring seasoned Norwich City player Kenny McLean back north of the border, but the deal appears to have stalled.

With Hamza Igamane due to be named soon, Rangers’ Moroccan contingent could expand if success is achieved in their Targhalline chase.

In other Rangers news, a very close target from Bayern Munich has decided not to join the club.
