What Russell Martin says about the new Saint Ronnie Edward
The Southampton players returned to their Staplewood training base prepared for a demanding summer of work, buoyed by the news that manager Russell Martin had agreed to a new contract the day before.
There were two new faces: Charlie Taylor, a free agent, and Adam Lallana, an accomplished Premier League player, both showed up for their first training session.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis was also on duty; on Monday, the loan from the previous season was confirmed as permanent.
After the holidays, Southampton supporters should anticipate much more club content, and Martin has already given a true treasure in place of Adam Armstrong.
Last season, Armstrong was a standout player for Martin, helping Southampton win promotion with 24 goals and 13 assists.
The striker who had struggled in his two Premier League seasons finally showed his finest side to Southampton supporters after he joined with the team in 2021.
