It’s official—the Chargers hype train has gone too far. Though we’ve gone too far, Los Angeles has great expectations under incoming head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Akbar Gbajabiamila, a former defensive end for the Raiders who played in the NFL from 2003 to 2007, said on The Rich Eisen Show that the Chargers have a real shot to unseat the Chiefs.

I will have to politely disagree with Gbajabiamila given that the team is rebuilding and recently lost Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams, and Keenan Allen. No, Kansas City will not be stopped by Los Angeles.

According to Gbajabiamila, “there’s one team that could potentially punch them in the mouth and stop them from a three-peat.” “Dude, I like Harbaugh. I mean, he wins everywhere, so I really do.

It is true that Harbaugh is a superb coach who has had success at every position. But Andy Reid is also a damn good coach, as seen by his three Super Bowl rings.

Why are we to believe Harbaugh can overcome the fact that the Chiefs have a much superior roster than the Chargers?

Gbajabiamila did forecast that Kansas City would complete the three-peat despite his remarks. “I’ll make it three in a row. “It’s highly probable that these guys understood it,” he said.

“They simply drafted speed once more. With all they had going now that they have this deep threat—of course, he’s a rookie—we didn’t see that much previous season. In the future, we’ll see how that turns out, but Patrick Mahomes simply excites me.”

Though that day is not today, perhaps in the not too distant future Harbaugh and the Chargers will have a genuine opportunity to win the AFC West. Although the Chiefs have defeated their division opponent five times in a row, Harbaugh’s influence on the team will take time to manifest.

The AFC West still passes through Kansas City, just as it has for the past eight years.
