Sunderland resumed preseason training this week, and they are now back in action.

Chris Rigg is expected to sign his first professional contract after meeting Regis Le Bris, demonstrating his positive first impression on the team.

The Frenchman will have to turn around a young,

ineffective team while collaborating with Kristjaan Speakman to add some much-needed players.

If Le Bris is to have any hope of leading Sunderland to the play-offs,

he will be anxious to sign a new striker as he is fully aware of the team’s dearth of goal scorers.

Although not many players have been connected to the Black Cats thus far,

Divin Mubama is a striker who has been on their radar consistently for the majority of the season.

The “clever” forward turned down a new contract at West Ham and is now in high demand in England and throughout Europe.

Sunderland is in prime position to sign the 19-year-old this summer, according to GIVEMESPORT.

According to the article, Mubama is desired in both Germany

and France. Earlier this year, the Daily Mail reported

that clubs including Sheffield Wednesday

and Blackburn had made loan approaches for him.

Do Black Cats have reason to celebrate Divin Mubama?
After their recent disappointment in the transfer window,

Sunderland supporters will likely be tired of signing young players, but Mubama might be an exception.

After making 12 appearances with the senior side last season, including one start in the Europa League,

West Ham was keen to retain onto him.

Mubama’s consistent inclusion in the Irons’ match-day roster indicates

that he has the ability to significantly influence the division below.

Although Speakman won’t want to sign Mubama as

the team’s lone offensive addition,

it might be a wise move for Sunderland to sign the young player

and an accomplished striker together on loan.
