Newcastle and Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement over Anthony Elanga. Medicals will be completed in the next days.

Elliot Anderson will probably take a different route as a result of the agreement to assist both teams’ PSR problems.

Elanga played a strong season at the City Ground after joining Forest from Manchester United in the summer.

He scored five goals and provided nine assists to help the team avoid relegation.

Despite being a product of Newcastle’s development academy,

Anderson has had difficulty earning a spot in Eddie Howe’s starting lineup.

The agreement might be advantageous for both parties,

according to talkSPORT’s top football correspondent Alex Crook,

since teams must comply with Profit and Sustainability regulations before Sunday’s PSR deadline.

Crook stated in The Warm Up:

“It’s one of these agreements where PSR is being shared around the parties.

“In terms of Elliott Anderson, this is a swap trade,

or at the very least, a player moving in the other direction.

Everton, Villa, and Chelsea have all accomplished that.

“This is an intriguing step for Elanga.

Eddie Howe would love to coach this kind of guy and bring out the most in him because there is talent there that we haven’t fully realized.

“It’s not exactly a sexy signing, is it,

if you’re Newcastle and two seasons ago you were finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League and talking about all kinds of big signings?”

Earlier in the summer, rumors circulated that Newcastle was under pressure to offload players in order to meet PSR requirements.

Two players who were specifically mentioned as potential departures were Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak.

However, two more English players are drawing attention, claims Crook.

He clarified: “More than many other clubs,

Newcastle is up against it to try and move players on to avoid any points penalties. It’s almost like a mini-deadline day.”

Callum Wilson is attracting interest from West Ham and Saudi Arabia, and Kieran Trippier is also receiving some attention.

This summer, AC Milan appears committed to acquiring a right back from the Premier League;

they were interested in both Trippier and Matty Cash.

“I don’t really see how that Trippier deal goes through between now and tomorrow,

especially considering that England’s Euro 2016 last-16 match should feature him if he’s fit.”
