Southampton and its south coast rivals Bournemouth are considering offering Demarai Gray a

return to the Premier League less than a year after he joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq,

according to GIVEMESPORT.

The 28-year-old winger moved to the Middle East from Everton last summer to join Steven Gerrard

and has since scored four goals in 25 appearances.

Although Ettifaq have yet to receive any official offers, that might change in the coming weeks as

Southampton manager Russell Martin and Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola have both considered

making a move for Gray, who has three years left on his £94,000-per-week deal. Galatarasay, a Turkish club,

also has a significant interest and may pursue a transfer missed out on Rafa Silva to Besiktas.

Elsewhere, Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron could be on his way to Saudi Arabia, with clubs waiting to see if

the Paraguayan winger is willing to leave the English Premier League for the Saudi Pro League.

Ettifaq is not now actively working on Almiron, but if Gray leaves, they will require a player in his profile.

Al-Shabab established a verbal agreement with Newcastle in January for roughly £25 million, but Almiron

refused to complete the move. Newcastle are now looking for at least £20 million, but Al-Shabab will not accept

another bid unless they receive direct approval from the former Atlanta United club. Shabab is also more interested

in getting a typical striker right now.

Almiron is also being considered by recently promoted club Al-Qadsiah. Technical director Carlos Anton, who oversaw

Nacho’s Real Madrid transfer, has Almiron on his list of potential targets, but he is not currently considered Qadsiah’s top priority.

The most obvious link would be for Newcastle to sell to another PIF-controlled club, with Al-Ittihad mentioned in some stories.

It is thought that Ittihad are still weighing their options, with a primary focus on finding a new manager to replace the fired Marcelo Gallardo. The Saudi window will not begin until July 17, giving the 2022/23 winners some extra time.
