Tottenham appear to have given a summer transfer blow to both Liverpool and Brentford by agreeing on a fee

for Leeds teenager Archie Gray. The highly rated 18-year-old is poised to sign a long-term contract with th

e north London club after excelling in the Championship last season, appearing in 52 outings across all competitions.

The deal is allegedly about £40 million, with the England Under-21 star capable of playing both central midfield and right back. Gray, great-nephew of Leeds legend Eddie, had been heavily linked with a move to Brentford, with Daniel Levy seemingly scuppering his club’s Premier League rivals at the 11th hour. The 18-year-old had already initiated the medical process with the Bees, but they appeared to be unable to reach an agreement with Leeds about the format of their proposal. And the development is expected to have ramifications for incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
