OFFICIAL: The old and original Atlético Madrid badge is back.

Atletico Madrid has officially reverted to its original badge after seven years with an improved version. The gold trim has returned to the Atletico crest.

Back in 2017, Atletico decided to modify the badge to make it more simplified for marketing purposes, but the fans were not pleased. It elicited an immediate unfavourable reaction from Colchonero supporters, and many have subsequently campaigned for the reintroduction of the original insignia.

Earlier this season, the club launched a referendum on the issue, and 88.68% of the roughly 70,000 fans who voted supported a return to the original logo. Despite the club warning that it would take millions to replace all of the updated badges with the old crest again, the fans were adamant in their decision

Many fans had vowed not to buy Atletico products with the new badge, which should help to mitigate the impact. However, it is a crucial triumph for a football club’s social mass, as it appears that fans are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with their clubs. According to Diario AS, some supporters even cheered the improvements outside the stadium.
