The captain of France, Kylian Mbappé, is ready to push through the pain if his broken nose is the subject of physical abuse during a harsh match against Belgium in the European Championship round of 16 on Monday in Duesseldorf.

At the beginning of the tournament, Mbappé cracked his nose. However, he made a comeback for France’s last Group D match, when he scored in a 1-1 tie with Poland while donning a mask he called “annoying.”

He said during a press conference on Sunday, “I think that if you’re playing with a broken nose and you haven’t had your nose operated on yet, you’re a target.”

“When I made the decision to play instead of going home or having the surgery, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into.

Additionally, I might get slightly muscled, which could hurt. However, I’m prepared to sacrifice everything for this shirt and to support France during its entire journey.

“It’s okay if this implies that my nose will be struck by someone. It’s already malfunctioning.”

For the first time since the injury, Mbappé spoke to the media and revealed that his immediate concern was that he would not be able to finish the tournament.

“I didn’t really understand what was going on when I got the blow to the face; I didn’t feel like my nose was broken. It was only when I looked at the goalie and saw his face that I realized something wasn’t right,” he said.

“With everything going on around me, I thought I was going home when I got back to the dressing room.”

“It was challenging for me at first because I had a lot of material to process, a full schedule of appointments, and little sleep. I slept very little for two nights.

“And knowing that you can’t help during France’s second group game against the Netherlands made it really tough to sit on the bench.” I was quite powerless. However, I’m glad I got to play against Poland.”

Mbappé claimed, meanwhile, that he was finding it difficult to get used to donning a mask after being seen in at least five different versions during the most recent game and other training sessions.

“Mask playing is just terrible, nasty. Every time something disturbs me, there’s something that’s not quite right, so I keep donning different masks.

Didier Deschamps, the manager of France, was worried about his team’s scoring performance during this year’s Euro because Les Bleus have not scored from open play in Germany, in addition to the health of his star player.

“The group matches are no longer the focus. “It’s a fresh competition inside the competition,” Deschamps stated at a Sunday press conference.

“You need to be productive. You need to score in order to win games. Your task is not to snap your fingers; instead, you must drag the pointer [closer to the goal].”
