Johnson had been with West Ham for the previous 17 years, therefore the team was eager to retain his services.

The former England youth international has played in midfield and all four back positions in 109 club appearances

since rising through the ranks.

Johnson was strongly linked to leaving the London Stadium in January after his opportunities were limited in the

first half of the previous campaign. However, David Moyes gave him greater playing time following the new year.

However, Johnson has been eager to negotiate the finest terms for his further development, and he has now

approved the terms and passed the Portman Road physical.

After being promoted from the Championship the previous season, Kieran McKenna’s team will play in the Premier

League for the first time in 22 years.
