Javier Manquillo Re-signs for Sunderland

defender Javier Manquillo, 22, of Atletico Madrid, has signed a season-long loan with Sunderland.

He previously spent two seasons on loan at Liverpool and Marseille.

The club also announced that they have the option to buy him permanently on a four-year contract;

according to a report in Mundo Deportivo, the permanent move would occur if he plays 25 league games and will cost €16 million.

Sunderland is attempting to win their first Premier League game of the year,

and David Moyes has mentioned that they must strengthen their team.

Under Sam Allardyce, Sunderland barely avoided relegation the previous season.
Watford, who have made a lot of acquisitions during the summer transfer window,

are rumoured to have also been interested in Manquillo,

who played just 10 league games for Liverpool in the 2014–15 campaign.
Both left and right back are positions that the Spaniard is capable of playing
