Piotr Zielinski, a 30-year-old midfielder, has confirmed his departure from Napoli, and his move to Inter Milan is now scheduled.

After Zielinski spent eight years with the Partenopei, the team said goodbye in a statement posted on Twitter.

There has been no question about Zielinski’s commitment to play for Inter the following season.

Months ago, the Nerazzurri and the Polish international worked out a deal. When it was feasible to do so, they had been in negotiations with him throughout the January transfer window.

Goalinski turned down Napoli’s invitation to extend his contract after talks broke down in the fall.

Instead, the former midfielder for Empoli and Udinese chose to embark on a new journey.

And it was Inter that intervened to persuade Zielinski that their initiative was the ideal one for him.

The Pole has agreed to a four-year contract to join the Italian champions.

But Zielinski actually reached his peak under current Italy coach Luciano Spalletti.

Spalletti’s two seasons as Napoli’s manager included the 30-year-old as an essential member of the starting lineup.

In the 2022–2023 season, Napoli achieved the ultimate result of winning the Serie A championship.

The Campanian team had not won the championship in over thirty years at that point.

But after Spalletti’s unexpected departure last summer, the Partenopei was in disarray for the previous season.

The reigning Italian champions unexpectedly fell to tenth place in the Serie A standings after three separate coaching changes.
