Pinson says Mavericks should sign Thompson and Dinwiddie to win Finals

The offseason for the Dallas Mavericks has just begun. The squad traded up to select French forward Melvin Ajinca

in the first round of the draft this week. Dallas sent the New York Knicks their 58th pick in exchange for monetary

considerations in order to obtain the young wing.

With all the intangibles, Ajinca can develop into Dallas’ ideal 3-and-D wing. Standing slightly above 6-foot-8,

he has a wingspan of 6-foot-7. In France, the Mavs draft choice averaged 9.7 points and 3.3 rebounds.

However, that wasn’t the only change made this week. In exchange for guard Quentin Grimes,

Dallas sent shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. and three second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons.

Dallas has been attempting to unload Hardaway’s deal for years, so this move was much needed.

Grimes, on the other hand, is a youthful guard with good 3-point shooting ability and defensive skills.

The Mavericks might not be done experimenting, though. The team has been associated with four-time NBA

champion Klay Thompson recently. The guard for the Warriors and the Mavericks are said to “have a strong mutual

interest.”

Theo Pinson, a former Maverick, thinks Dallas ought to do this. He recently tweeted out what it would take for the

Mavs to take home the championship.
