A MESSAGE TO THE CELTIC BOARD

Although it would be churlish to think that everything was fine,

results throughout the season were generally good, but there were also a number of performances that were below par.

Looking back, it’s evident how crucial those late, late victories at Easter Road and Fir Park during February and March were,

as failing to win even one of those games could have had disastrous consequences

when the prizes were given out in May. On the surface, Celtic’s season was good,

as evidenced by their League and Cup double.

In the summer of 2023, Celtic acquired ten players.

It’s a terrible indictment that not a single one of them was able to maintain a regular first team spot or contribute significantly during the season.

So much so that, when Celtic finally found their groove at the end of the season,

Brendan Rodgers had to turn to Ange Postecoglou’s team—minus Jota, Starfelt, Mooy,

and eventually Abada—which was ultimately a noteworthy accomplishment

that showcased Rodgers’ leadership and organizational

abilities that carried Celtic over the finish line. With that group of players,

it was a case of needing to visit the well one final time, and reinforcements are much needed.

To use a catchphrase, we got away with it.

The Celtic Board needs to understand that this summer,

there is a feeling of expectancy and eagerness among our supporters.

There are tens of millions of dollars in the club’s bank account.

The Champions League windfall is still to come. Additionally,

each summer, we receive funding from supporters for season tickets.

Regarding that, considering the club’s current level of financial prosperity,z  it was a little audacious to raise the season ticket prices in the midst of a cost of living crisis.

Going back to the previous season, there were moments when it seemed like the league title was certain.

Both Celtic’s 2-1 victory over Rangers at Celtic Park in the New Year’s Day match and their early-season winning run until October saw them build sizable leads that they eventually gave up.

In football parlance, we were covering up the gaps even when we were winning games since the team wasn’t performing consistently effectively.

Last season, Celtic’s overall performance fell short of what fans had anticipated.

After reading this, some people might think it’s an entitlement. That being said,  you must acknowledge Celtic’s resource advantage.

We possess a significant financial edge over our competitors at the moment, the largest stadium, and the largest fan base. We need to make the most of the money and resources we have.

Celtic Park needs to draw elite players this summer. No more side projects—instead,  look for young,

talented players who are already established and can contribute to the squad by holding down a starting position. Celtic supporters are entitled to a particular caliber of player and the products they pay a lot of money for every summer.

There are two reasons for doing this action. First and foremost, we want to continue being Scotland’s top club. More importantly, though, is that we do not want to enter the new Champions League setup and end up like cannon fodder, as has occurred in the previous several seasons. For all his shortcomings, Celtic’s most significant period in European football history dates back to Neil Lennon’s managerial tenure. This is extremely frustrating and speaks poorly of Celtic’s purported goal to become a dominant force in European football. It’s past time the Board matched the goals and ambitions of the supporters, and that HAS to begin this summer with hiring a far higher caliber of player.

The player acquisition process last summer was completely disorganized. A few signings were mediocre at best, abysmal at worst, and average at best.

Now that we have a number of players on our hands, Celtic will struggle to offload them and will suffer financial losses.
