INEOS have made a massive statement of intent by restructuring Manchester United’s football

administration by bringing in Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox.

The club’s hierarchy have also earned plaudits for making moves for René Hake and Ruud van

Nistelrooy to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff.

However, the new co-owners at Old Trafford are struggling to show the same level of ambition

with regard to signing new players.

United’s transfer budget is limited by the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability criteria (PSR).

However, they are not the only Premier League club hurting this summer due to constraints. Surprisingly,

the identical situation may wind up benefiting United’s financial difficulties.

Last year, the Red Devils parted ways with academy graduate Anthony Elanga, who joined Nottingham

Forest for a rumored sum of £15 million. According to The Mirror, United included numerous add-ons to

the transaction, including a sell-on provision.

The 22-year-old agile winger had a successful season at Forest, contributing five goals and nine assists in

the Premier League. Newcastle United has expressed interest.

Despite their own issues with the PSR, the Magpies are currently seeking to sell their teenage forward Yankuba Minteh before June 30.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are interested in signing Elanga from Nottingham and sending Minteh the opposite way.

According to the source, talks between the two teams have increased in the last 24 hours.

The alleged swap deal has the potential to not only help Newcastle comply with the PSR, but it may also benefit United’s

financial situation due to the reported sell-on clause, which should be honored based on Elanga’s value even in the event

of a player exchange.

However, in order to make significant additions this summer, United may have to sell additional youth players, including

Mason Greenwood. The homegrown forward, who spent last season on loan at Getafe, has attracted interest from France,

Italy, and Spain in recent weeks.
