Marc Roca from Real Betis has officially joined Leeds United for a reported €6 million.

Leeds United and Real Betis appear to be reaching an agreement on Marc Roca’s departure,

while another Whites player has severely criticized himself following a lackluster start at the European Championships.

Roca and defenseman Max Wober were acquired by Leeds during the brief term of Jesse Marsch, since the pair was unable to maintain the team in the Premier League in 2022–2023.

While the latter moved from Red Bull Salzburg to the Whites in a reported £11 million agreement that lasted six months until 2027,

the former signed from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 for just over £10 million on a four-year contract.

Thanks to loan clauses that former sports director Victor Orta had added to their contracts,

the Austrian and Spaniard found an easy way out of Leeds while the club was preparing for life in the Championship.

Both chose the second option when given the choice between playing in the English second division and accepting a pay decrease and going out on loan.

Wober, who made 19 appearances for the Yorkshire team, left for Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga,

while Roca, who scored once in 36 outings for Leeds, joined on a season-long loan to La Liga team Betis.

In the present, the destinies of both players are not quite certain.

Roca had a successful debut with the Spanish team, starting 16 of their 19 La Liga games and all six of their Europa League group stage fixtures.

Despite having little playing time under Manuel Pellegrini due to a viral ailment,

an ankle injury, and form issues, he nevertheless made 37 appearances across all competitions.

Los Verdiblancos are unwilling to spend that much for the 27-year-old,

despite Betis reportedly having a £10 million option to make the loan transfer permanent.

This is because Leeds hasn’t been able to go back into the Premier League right away this season.
