Both of the former Sunderland players play major roles for Charlton Athletic these days.
Charlie Methven, a former co-owner of Sunderland, has been appointed as the next CEO of Charlton Athletic.

Jim Rodwell, a former chief operating officer of the Black Cats,

will serve as chairman and managing director in addition to overseeing football operations.

Global Football Partners (GFP), the club’s owners, have made a number of changes, including these ones.

Methven will “manage the day-to-day running of the club at The Valley and be responsible for the off-pitch growth of the football club,” according to the League One team.

Approval from EFL is required for his appointment.

In 2023, GFP acquired Charlton Athletic, with Methven acquiring 5% of the team as part of the takeover agreement. Methven was bought out in June 2022,

and he is no longer associated with Sunderland.

Methven and fellow co-owner Stewart Donald were divisive figures at Sunderland,

with many supporters considering their time there to be disastrous. Additionally,

Donald no longer has any ownership stake in the team due to Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Juan Sartori,

the former partner of Madrox, purchasing his shares.
