Celtic Exclusive: Big update on Dominik Livakovic today

Celtic have failed to reach an agreement to sign Fenerbahce goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic,

with his salary demands proving a big stumbling block, according to Football Insider.

Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Football Insider journalist and Scottish expert

Daniel Bowers agreed it would be a “major coup” if the Hoops could sign the Croatia international this summer.

There have been claims that an agreement is already in place, but this is seen to be premature.

However, while the rumored sum of £7-8 million is regarded as reasonable, the goalkeeper’s salary would be

a “stumbling block” for the Scottish side.

Given that Jose Mourinho has only recently taken over the Turkish club, the veteran manager may be

apprehensive of allowing Livakovic to depart without first assessing the situation.

Celtic were connected with the 29-year-old last summer, but the club felt no reason to make a move for him

while Joe Hart was still playing.

Livakovic would be an excellent alternative owing to his expertise in European football and on the international

level with Croatia.

The 29-year-old played 47 games for Fenerbahce in all competitions last season, keeping 21 clean sheets and

demonstrating the talent he may bring to Celtic Park.

In other news, Celtic are willing to let a striker leave this summer.
