In his most recent editorial, the former Hoops hero thinks that his former team has a fantastic opportunity this summer.
The first time around, Brendan Rodgers had a distance between him and the Rangers.

He has a great chance to open up another rift if Celtic, who were pushed for a while by the Ibrox club last season, get it right this summer.

After the club returned for preseason training, stage two of Rodgers’ second stint is well under way, and the manager is in a much better situation than he was a year ago.

He couldn’t have had it easy the previous summer.

Although he was aware that some people didn’t want him back, he made a vow to return to the stadium in May carrying the championship trophy, which he dutifully delivered along with a scottish Cup.

He supported his statements, and now that he’s summoned that Double, he doesn’t need to say anything else this summer.

He also wanted to see growth in Europe, and while I don’t think the Champions League saw as many advancements as some would have you believe, it was still a driving force.

When playing the best teams on the continent, Rodgers and Celtic have a genuine potential to both destroy Rangers and reclaim that elusive mark if they make the proper decisions over the course of the next several months.

Let’s be clear: you should never glance past the fence. Celtic doesn’t care about what the Rangers are doing. They will, and they must, mind their own business.

However, it appears to us outsiders that they have a fantastic chance to establish an edge over their main competitors.

Gaining that championship the previous season has added an additional £40 million to Parkhead’s coffers while keeping money out of the Ibrox coffers.

That significantly limits what any team can accomplish in this transfer window and offers Celtic a tremendous opportunity to advance.

The fact that Philippe Clement’s superiors don’t seem to be very smart when it comes to renovating portions of the stadium isn’t helping him in his quest to rebuild his team.

Supporters of the Rangers have no interest in missing steel and shipping containers. It is absurd that they are unable to attend their team’s games at Ibrox.

Listen, if Rangers had to play Motherwell and Ross County on the moon, they should be winning in the first month, but that’s not the idea, and it also needs to affect Clement’s prospects of qualifying for the Champions League.
