The end of Tim Hardaway Jr.’s time in Dallas was a disaster

and three second-round draft selections to the Detroit Pistons. Having joined the team in 2019, Hardaway Jr.’s time

in Big D is coming to an end.

When the Mavs acquired Hardaway Jr., they had high hopes that he would become a star in Dallas.

Regretfully, he was never able to emerge as a standout player for the Mavericks, and the trade to the Pistons was the

greatest move for the team.

If Hardaway Jr. was going to be traded at this time, general manager Nico Harrison made sure he would steer the

team in a better path, which he most definitely did.

Here are five reasons the Dallas Mavericks pulled off a brilliant trade with the Detroit Pistons in exchange for

Quentin Grimes and Tim Hardaway Jr.

After the trade deadline on February 8, Hardaway Jr.’s season took a serious turn for the worst,

as he managed just two 20-point performances. Despite this, he ended up averaging 14.4, which was third most

points on the team, and he was in a prime position to help the Mavs win in the 2024 Playoffs.

During the playoffs, Hardaway Jr. occasionally lost his ability to play and felt irritated with his position.

Hardaway Jr. failed to score in his three Finals games and vanished when his team needed him.
