DONE DEAL: Newcastle United has accepted Everton’s bid for Yankuba Minteh’s swap deal following….

Newcastle United are desperate to sell ahead of the PSR deadline with door for Dominic Calvert-Lewin left ajar

Newcastle United sources have denied talk that Yankuba Minteh was threatened with reserve team football after

his move to Everton broke down.

Chronicle Live understands that Everton have attempted to get talks back on track for Minteh while the door on

discussions for Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been left ajar on Merseyside.

However, that would involve the Toffees reducing their asking price of £37million for the striker.

Newcastle broke out of talks with Everton last week after the Merseyside club made unreasonable demands.

There were reports on Thursday that Minteh had been told he would be relegated to the reserves if he did not

accept a move to Lyon, with the Ligue 1 club seeking £40 million for his services.

Everton made an offer for Minteh earlier this week, but it fell short of triggering the transfer to Goodison Park,

despite the teenager negotiating personal terms through intermediaries.

Time is running out for Newcastle to sell Minteh in time for Sunday’s PSR health check deadline but club officials

are calm about the club’s financial status.

United increased its revenues to £250.3m from £180m as they reported a loss after tax of £73.4m.

For Minteh, the Lyon offer remains open, and Everton’s return to action coincides with the

Toffees’ desire to avoid being stung by the Premier League’s PSR restrictions.

According to reports from yesterday, the top flight is carefully scrutinising transfer activity.

Minteh’s agent, Bakary Bojang, told Chronicle Live on Saturday morning:

“It is true that Newcastle are eager to transfer the player if they receive a good offer.

If Newcastle wants to sell and the sporting proposal is good, we will absolutely look into it. We are in discussion with a few clubs.”
