The 37-year-old was reportedly added to the Hoops’ summer shortlist as they look for a new number one.

Rodgers may now have the opportunity to sign the former international for Bosnia and Herzegovina for nothing.

After leaving Queens Park Rangers, Asmir Begovic

Begovic has now departed Loftus Road due to the expiration of his contract with the West London-based Queens Park Rangers, according to the team’s official X account.

Begovic has concluded a fruitful year with the Sky Bet Championship team, and he will be replaced in goal by former Gent stopper Paul Nardi [BBC Sport].

“Asmir did a fantastic job last season and when we knew he would not continue,

it was important we had a good set of goalkeepers here,” their manager, Marti Cifuentes, said in regards to the veteran’s departure.

Even with the reality of short-termism taken into account,

Begovic has unquestionably had a distinguished career and a wealth of Premier League experience.

supporters would be concerned about his age.

Over the last few years, the Scottish Premiership holders have favoured experienced goalkeepers,

and if younger targets become unattainable, signing the former Chelsea player could be an appealing opportunity.
