Brighton & Hove Albion have made a €7 million proposal to capture IFK Göteborg starlet Malick Yalcouyé this summer.

According to Expressen, who are covering the youngster today,

Brighton have already moved forward to try to buy him.

According to the publication, Yalcouyé appears to be leaving IFK Göteborg this summer after performing well in the Allsvenskan.

He’s taken the division by storm this year and won a lot of fans,

with reports early this year saying that Gent, Ajax, and PSV were all interested,

while Brighton had shown interest’.

That was followed by a rumor that an unnamed club’s bid had been rejected by the Swedish club, with technical director Ola Larsson basically urging them to submit a stronger offer.
“We have some requests that were at a bit too low a level,

then we’ll see if they come back with a higher level,” he informed me.

Expressen now reports that ‘things have picked up’ around the 18-year-old,

and IFK Göteborg insiders have claimed that Brighton have made a €7 million bid, which is equivalent to SEK 80 million.

They do not specify that this offer was rejected, as was the previous bid from an undisclosed club for SEK 50 million, but rather that the relevant parties are ‘having positive conversations’ and want to achieve an agreement for the midfielder.

There are other potential suitors in the mix, including Southampton,

but club insiders say Brighton is presently the ‘hottest club’ for Yalcouyé.
