Sunderland’s sporting director Kristjaan Speakman is targeting new strikers for the upcoming summer transfer

window. The club has not had a goal-scoring no.9 since their return to the Championship in 2022 due to Ross

Stewart’s injury struggles.

The 27-year-old scored 28 goals in League Two last season after scoring 42 in the National League the year before.

The striker was born in Stockton-on-Tees and has progressed through the non-league system, representing

Gateshead along the way.

According to reports on Friday, Sunderland’s Championship rivals Millwall have made a bid for Langstaff at Notts

County.

Since then, journalist Darren Witcoop has disclosed on X that Langstaff is ‘likely’ to leave the League Two team

during the summer transfer window.

Witcoop adds that five clubs, three of which are in League One, have ‘expressed an interest’ in the striker. Witcoop

also revealed the Black Cats’ interest in Langstaff earlier in June.
