Ipswich Town: Blues agree deal to sign Chelsea’s Omari Hutchinson

Ipswich Town have agreed to recruit Chelsea’s talented teenage forward Omari Hutchinson for a club record amount,

according to the EADT and Ipswich Star. The Blues will make a significant statement by bringing the electric 20-

year-old back to Portman Road after spending last season on loan in Suffolk, where he scored 11 goals and provided

six assists in 50 games.

The Athletic has stated that the fee will be an initial £20 million plus up to £2.5 million in add-ons, though we

understand the ultimate sum may be somewhat higher. There will be a sell-on clause, but no buy-back arrangement.

As long as Hutchinson passes his medical, the transaction will beat the club record of £4.75 million, which Town

paid Sampdoria for goalie Matteo Sereni in 2001.Following in-demand manager Kieran McKenna’s decision to stay

with Town last month despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Brighton, Hutchinson’s permanent

arrival is another big coup for the club as they prepare to return to the Premier League.
