Everton has recently faced criticism for making a significant loss when selling players who arrived at Goodison Park

for large sums of money.

Alex Iwobi joined Arsenal for about £40 million before leaving for Fulham for £15 million less. Yerry Mina’s transfer

from Barcelona cost around £30 million. Last summer, the massive center-back left on a free transfer.

This somewhat unpleasant tendency continues with Allan, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Cenk Tosun, Theo Walcott,

Yannick Bolasie, Morgan Schneiderlin, and others.

Meanwhile, HITC announced on Friday morning that another pricey Everton addition was likely to leave for more

than half of the fee paid for him in the first place. Clearly, this long-standing issue is still happening.

The Merseysiders invested £25 million to sign then-Norwich City captain Ben Godfrey in 2020, when Carlo Ancelotti

was in charge and fans were hoping for a better future.

Four years later, HITC understands Everton has accepted Atalanta’s cut-price £10 million bid. Godfrey’s contract

had only 12 months left, therefore the decision was forced.

The two-time England international has now been photographed arriving in Italy via Gianluca di Marzio, with a

medical scheduled for soon.

According to HITC, Everton received a bid from French heavyweights Lyon that exceeded Atalanta’s £10 million

deal. However, Godfrey made it obvious that he was only interested in moving to La Dea.

If Everton had not accepted Atalanta’s offer, Godfrey would have considered terminating his contract and leaving

Goodison Park on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, a move to Bergamo will bring the versatile defender together with Ademola Lookman, another former

Everton player. The former Fulham and Leicester City loanee has been a revelation in Italy, becoming only the fourth

player in history to score a hat-trick in a European final when he single-handedly defeated Bayer Leverkusen to win

Atalanta’s first major prize in May.
