BREAKING NEWS: QPR’s star goalkeeper Asmir Begovic finally takes a career decision to sign a new contract this summer.

Former Ipswich Town loanee Asmir Begovic has announced that he will leave Championship side QPR at the end of his contract.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper had been weighing up his options after being offered a new deal at Loftus Road, but he has now made his future clear with the post on his Instagram page.

He said: “Thank you to everyone at QPR for your support this past season. Really enjoyed my time at the club.

“Wishing you all the very best for the future. I am really excited for the next challenge!”

Begovic moved to the R’s last summer on a one-year deal after leaving Everton, keeping 13 clean sheets as he helped Marti Cifuentes’ side avoid relegation despite looking nailed on for a bottom-three finish.

His contract is due to expire in the next few days, with the Bosnian reportedly a target for Scottish champions Celtic, who are looking for a replacement for the recently retired Joe Hart.

In total, Begovic made six appearances for Ipswich during his brief loan spell from Portsmouth in 2009. He has since played for the likes of Stoke City, AFC Bournemouth, Chelsea and AC Milan.
