Villa to steal Paqueta replacement from Hammers

Aston Villa is trying to defeat the Hammer in order to sign Pedro Goncalves,

who has been on West Ham’s radar for a while but was notably absent from Euro 2024.

Goncalves, a prominent player at Sporting Lisbon at the moment, became a target for West Ham,

But FA betting accusations have destroyed Paqueta’s expected transfer,

reducing West Ham’s budget and delaying their pursuit of Goncalves—much to Aston Villa’s advantage.

The midfield player, who was surprisingly left out of Portugal’s roster for the 2024 Euro in Germany,

has frequently been likened to Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United.

Goncalves played a key role in Sporting’s victory in the previous campaign,

with 18 goals and 17 assists in 49 games to help his team win Liga Portugal.
