This summer, Celtic will need to replace the void between the sticks.
With Joe Hart’s retirement, Celtic is looking for a replacement goalkeeper.

As they get ready for the next season, the Hoops must make a significant choice on that department’s signing.

Alan McInally has suggested that Angus Gunn, the top player in Scotland, could be a possibility.

According to McInally, “Angus Gunn to Celtic? Perhaps because Joe is now retired.

He didn’t play well against Germany, in my opinion. Actually, I don’t. Against Switzerland and Hungary,

I believe he rallied and turned things around. However,

I felt he should have done better in a few situations and that he was to blame for Germany’s opening goal.

It goes without saying that a goalie needs to be strong, powerful,

and dependable for the players in front of him. You should be aware that we have an incredibly reliable and capable person on our corner.

Would Celtic want to sign him? I’m not sure. Celtic would probably accept it.

That’s a valid query. Furthermore, I’m not sure if he is connected to Celtic. I’m not sure. Answering that one is difficult. He is most likely content right now in Norwich City, where his father was, of course.”

Like Hart, Gunn came up through Manchester City’s academy system but never played as a senior for the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

Rather, he was given a loan to Norwich to gain some Championship experience before Southampton signed him on a permanent basis in 2018.

He continued to play 30 games across all competitions for the Saints until being transferred out.

When the Canaries called in 2021, the man from Norwich went back to his boyhood club and has been their first pick ever since.

Gunn has appeared in 86 games for the East Anglian team, including 43 this past season.

Under former manager David Wagner, they made it to the play-offs but fell short against Leeds United in the semifinals.

With just a year remaining on his Carrow Road contract,

Norwich needs to start considering his long-term options. If they don’t sell him now or in January, they run the chance of losing him for nothing in a year, assuming he doesn’t sign a contract extension soon.
