Rangers are close to signing Hamza Igamane from AS Far Rabat this summer, according to Football Scotland.

According to the publication (26 June), the Gers have put a striker at the “top of their wishlist” for the summer window.

Having said that, they are now “poised” to sign the Moroccan on a long-term contract at Ibrox, moving from AS Far Rabat.

A fee of around £2 million has been negotiated ahead of the 21-year-old forward’s summer departure.

Rangers set to sign Hamza Igamane

Given his age and football background, the bulk of Light Blues fans will be unfamiliar with this signing.

It is concerning that he has never played in Europe, but at 21, he has the potential to improve swiftly under Philippe Clement next season.

There is a potential he will go to the Paris Olympics with Morocco, therefore he may be late joining his Rangers colleagues for preseason.

Signing a striker will be an interesting commercial decision given the Belgian’s current alternatives.

Danilo will return from injury next season and will want to play regularly, as will last season’s leading scorer, Cyriel DessersThere has been chatter that the Nigerian may leave Ibrox this summer, which could pave the way for Igamane to join.

An intriguing move that could prove to be a valuable and shrewd piece of business for the Gers this summer.

In other Rangers news, the club will pay an additional £1 million to complete yet another summer deal.
