DONE DEAL: Leicester City finally signed Arsenal’s star striker Eddie Nketiah for £50 million.

Leicester City are the latest club to be linked with Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah ahead of the summer.

The Foxes are currently embroiled in an intense promotion race in the Championship, but it appears they are already planning for life in the top-flight.

The above link comes via Football Transfers, who report that the Foxes have joined two Premier League sides in the chase to sign Nketiah this summer.

Those sides are said to be Crystal Palace and Brentford, with the latter eyeing an Ivan Toney replacement, whilst Palace are said to be long-term admirers.

Leicester City reportedly believe that the player’s wages will not be an issue if they go on to get promoted.

The report also claims Jamie Vardy is likely to move on at the end of the season, which will free up £150,000 per week in terms of wages.

Nketiah is said to be leaning towards a move to Brentford, but Leicester’s interest could perhaps change things.

Nketiah set to leave Arsenal

The above interest, which includes Leicester City’s, comes after Nketiah was reportedly told he might leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

According to a TEAMTalk article from last month, Mikel Arteta highlighted the 24-year-old as a player the club can afford to lose this summer as the Gunners try to rebuild their roster.

In reality, Arsenal were supposed to be receptive to Nketiah leaving in January, but TEAMtalk claims they were unable to identify a competent replacement and hence did not allow any exit.

Eddie Nketiah’s 2023/24 stats so far, as per Transfermarkt
Competitions Played Goals Assists
Premier League 25 5 2
Champions League 5 1 0
FA Cup 1 0 0
EFL Cup 2 0 1
Stats correct as of 04/04/24

Arsenal are currently in a title race in the Premier League, and will naturally want to strengthen even further in the summer.

One player the club are supposedly eyeing is former Coventry City and current Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres.

The arrival of the Swedish striker, or indeed any other, would see Nketiah’s minutes reduced further.

So far this season, the 24-year-old has played 33 times in all competitions, but is generally seen as a squad player at the Emirates Stadium.
