Ben Johnson has completed a physical with Ipswich Town as he prepares to leave West Ham, according to The

Guardian.

The tabloid reported on its website [25 June] that the 24-year-old is poised to sign a four-year contract at Portman

Road, with his current contract at the London Stadium set to end later this week. According to The Athletic, Johnson

was handed a last-ditch five-year contract to stay with the Hammers, but he decided to weigh his alternatives and is

now expected to join the newly promoted side.

While Julen Lopetegui made his thoughts on the matter clear, offering the player more playing time, according to

HITC, Ipswich are looking to add a talented full-back to their squad this summer.

The academy graduate made only four Premier League starts under David Moyes last season, visibly frustrated by his

lack of opportunity at the London Stadium.

Despite his limited playing time, Johnson is an exceptionally versatile defender who can play wherever along the

back line and farther up the pitch as needed, including each wing.

After beating Leeds United to promotion last season, Ipswich will want to stay in the top division of English football,

and signing the West Ham full-back for free is a good start.

He has made over a century of appearances for the Hammers, leaving some fans dissatisfied that he has not signed a

new contract at the London Stadium and is instead looking for a new team.Johnson, 24, still has a lot to offer in the

Premier League, and he appears to believe that the longer he stays with the Irons, the slower his development

becomes.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have made an approach to sign Samu Omorodion, with an update surfacing

on his fee.
