In the negotiations, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich are both putting up a fierce fight.

Following their raid on Stuttgart and subsequent €23 million acquisition of 25-year-old center back Hiroki Ito,

Bayern Munich is still vying for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.

For the German national team, Tah is presently keeping his starting position opposite to Antonio Rüdiger; nonetheless,

Tah has apparently agreed to terms on a personal basis with Bayern.

Sport Bild reported (picture courtesy of @MiaSanMia) that Bayern Munich’s first bid was less than €20 million.

Leverkusen is expecting a transfer fee over €40 million and is refusing to sell to its main Bundesliga opponent.

Tah is valued at €30 million by Transfermarkt, and it appears that both clubs are haggling over this amount.

Tah led the team that won the title the previous season, therefore Leverkusen is not as concerned about the money in this agreement.

Tah’s contract, though, expires in the summer of 2020,

thus Leverkusen will have to determine if it is worth it to forgo a transfer fee this summer in order to extend Tah’s deal for another year.
