Southampton are now set to finalise ‘contract talks’ with player Russell Martin thinks is ‘massive’

Southampton’s summer transfer saga could be coming to a conclusion, with one of their players set to sign a new contract.

Manager Russell Martin understands how much work needs to be done to prepare his Southampton players for the

Premier League this summer. They’ve had a good start to the summer, with Taylor Harwood-Bellis’ loan move made

permanent following promotion and veteran Adam Lallana signing for free.

Southampton will continue to work in the free agency market, with a deal for 30-year-old Brentford midfielder

Saman Ghoddos anticipated to be completed after his contract expires at the end of June. However, it is one of

Southampton’s own players who they hope to keep from departing for free at the end of the month, and it appears

that they are getting closer to that goal with Alex McCarthy.
