Sky Sports: Milan Targeting Feyenoord Midfield Star – Talks Initiated with Agent

According to a rumour, AC Milan is looking for a new midfield player, and Mats Wieffer of Feyenoord

is the most recent name to catch their eye.

Sky reports that the management of Milan is hoping to finalise the transfer of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna as soon as possible. They are also focusing on Wieffer, a fellow countryman who had another outstanding season at Feyenoord.

The 24-year-old was a consistent starter under Arne Slot, but now that he’s moved to Liverpool, some

of Feyenoord’s stars, who might also be looking to advance in their careers, are in question.

Due to the current absence of a natural player in the squad to fill that role, Wieffer primarily plays as

a defensive midfielder in front of the back four, an area Milan has been attempting to address.

The midfield player led the Rotterdam team to six goals last season: five in the league and one in the Champions League during the team’s home loss to Atletico Madrid. In all, he made 42 appearances

and contributed 4 assists.

According to Fabrizio Romano, talks have resumed in recent days and Milan has already gotten in

touch with Wieffer’s representatives. One of the players on the shortlist for the midfield position is

him; the player is also drawn to the Rossoneri, and negotiations over the price are expected to

continue.
