In order to return stronger the next season, the Dallas Mavericks are probably searching for methods to boost their roster. The squad has already been the subject of numerous speculations, one of which being that it is interested in making a blockbuster trade for Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant.

By the end of the 2023–24 season, P.J. Washington and Derrick Jones Jr. were holding down the starting forward positions for Dallas, but Grant is a versatile player who could certainly help the team.

The seasoned player scored 21.0 points per game and shot 45.1 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from beyond the arc in the previous campaign.

He fits very well with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic because of his ability to handle the ball and play off the catch. He is athletic and long enough to be a disruptive force on defense.

But if the Mavs are serious about acquiring Grant and the three years (plus a player option) left on his enormous contract, they may need to act fast. It has also been stated that other groups have shown interest in the highly sought-after trading target.

The Los Angeles Lakers are one team that may spoil Dallas’ plans to pursue the second-generation basketball player, assuming it intends to do so. Few people were surprised when they recently recruited JJ Redick.

League insiders have heard that Redick had previously spent the preceding days communicating with the Lakers players to outline his vision and talk about their possible responsibilities, according to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer.

The former shooter seems to value “positional versatility, 3-point shooting, and playmaking,” all of which Grant possesses, based on the rumors.

Therefore, if Los Angeles is really focused on trading for the previous second-round pick, it might not come as a surprise.

When you consider that he is now represented by Klutch Sports Group, led by Rich Paul, a longtime friend and agent of LeBron James, the chances may be stacked against the Mavs in the Jerami Grant lottery.

Since it makes it far more likely that James will stay in Hollywood rather than sign with the Mavs or another team, Dallas can already be viewed as the greatest loser in Redick’s decision to serve as the Lakers’ bench boss.

But, the group has a chance to undermine the Purple and Gold’s intention to bring aboard Mavs assistant coach Jared Dudley. Given the potential Grant development, Dallas should undoubtedly try to thwart the Lakers’ plans.
