Newcastle United star Callum Wilson is expected to bring the curtain down on his St James’ Park career during the remainder of the summer transfer window and could become the latest Premier League big-name to secure a lucrative contract in Saudi Arabia, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Although Lloyd Kelly became the Magpies’ first recruit as preparations are made for the fast-approaching 2024/25 campaign, thanks to the defender penning a long-term deal to join when his Bournemouth agreement expires at the end of the month, boss Eddie Howe is also in line to see members of last season’s squad depart.

In order to avoid making the same mistakes as domestic rivals Everton and Nottingham Forest and breaking the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules,

co-owner Amanda Staveley has joined other important personnel in the background to consider who to let go in the next few days

Wilson Expected to Leave Magpies Despite West Ham Decision

Wilson is still expected to leave Newcastle before the transfer window closes on August 30, according to GMS sources. After West Ham United’s interest waned, Wilson might receive an offer from the wealthy Saudi Pro League.

The striker is one of the players on the Magpies’ roster who may be permitted to take on a new challenge as they attempt to raise money and adhere to spending caps. He only has 12 months left on his St. James’ Park deal, which gives him a weekly salary of £110,000.

Although Wilson has to contend with Alexander Isak’s fierce competition for a regular starting spot at Newcastle, it is thought that a route to the Middle East will become available. GMS sources have been informed that Wilson’s interest in traveling to Saudi Arabia is still unknown.

The England international has been called “incredible” by Howe and is well-liked behind the scenes, but he will now have to look into other options because West Ham decided not to put his current employers to the test with a bid in the first few months of head coach Julen Lopetegui’s tenure at the London Stadium.

Due to their concern that Wilson’s injury history might cause him to miss extended periods of time, the Hammers have shifted their focus elsewhere. According to GMS sources, they are desperate to sign a frontman who will be more consistent in being available throughout a Premier League season.

The 32-year-old appears to have already made his final appearance in a Newcastle shirt, despite being a fan favorite on Tyneside since his £20 million move from Bournemouth in September 2020.

It’s possible that he won’t be one of Howe’s options for the match against Southampton on the first weekend of the season.
