DONE DEAL: Celtic finally sign £4m Brondby star striker Mathias Kvistgaarden on four year contract.

Brondby have reportedly slapped a massive price tag on Mathias Kvistgaarden this summer amid

Celtic ‘s long-standing interest in the frontman.

The Danish striker has been subject to firm Parkhead interest throughout the last two transfer windows with an

offer worth more than £4m reportedly knocked back 12 months ago.

The 22-year-old has publicly stated that he did not hold any talks with the Scottish Premiership champions

but refused to close the door on a potential move.

But with Brondby heading for the Europa Conference League after missing out on the Danish title last term the club appear

determined to keep the key man at the club.

RB Salzburg is apparently interested in Kvistgaarden,

with Austrian site VICTAURI stating that scouts were dispatched to watch the forward throughout the previous season.

However, the asking price of €10 million (£8.5 million) to sign the star is thought to have put the brakes on

a potential deal at this point.

It’s a high price tag, with Norwich City already anticipated to demand a large fee to bring Adam Idah back to

Celtic Park this summer.

While new Canaries manager Johannes Hoff Thorup said that he wants to look at the Ireland international before

making any choices, sporting director Ben Knapper admitted that the Championship club would

have to keep to their player trading strategy if an offer came in.

He said: “I certainly wouldn’t be doing my job if I wasn’t constantly looking at how can we improve what’s out there.

It’s always a balance.

“Of course, there’s some areas that we’re looking at,

but it’s so important to remember Johannes hasn’t had the first session yet with the players.

He needs to get in there and feel and see these players. That’s going to play a part in decisions that we may or may not make.”

Carl Starfelt is another man rumored to be returning. He appears to be departing Celta Vigo,

with speculation mounting over a possible return to Celtic barely 12 months after leaving Parkhead.

The centre-back ended a two-year career in the Premiership by signing a four-year contract

with the La Liga club last summer, but his future at the club is unknown now that Rafa Benitez has been replaced

by Claudio Giraldez. The Liverpool manager’s successor is claimed to be unimpressed with the Swede

as a defensive option for the upcoming season, and La Voz Degalicia claims a replacement has already been found.

Jose Fontan will return for pre-season with Celta Vigo – and will reportedly be given a chance in the first-team

picture after a successful loan at FC Cartagena. It is stated he could “replace” Starfelt and force him further down

the pecking order – while pushing the 29-year-old closer to the exit.
