The Dallas Mavericks will be one of many clubs trying to improve their rosters before the NBA season begins,
with the NBA summer officially starting more than a week ago. Several teams surprised fans in the previous season,
including the Mavericks, who advanced to the NBA Finals before falling to the Boston Celtics in five games.

Even if the club didn’t win a title this past season, there were still a lot of gains the squad could make going into the
offseason. The Mavs may look forward to the summer with Dereck Lively II’s development.
In addition to surprising a lot of people with his quick impact on the floor to start the season, Lively II shown his
potential to develop into a floor spacer the following season with his 3-point shooting.
One player may be heading away in a possible trade as the Mavs scout the NBA landscape for possible
reinforcements at positions of need. Tim Hardaway Jr., a longtime Maverick, has been linked to trades this
offseason, and after a lackluster postseason, his exit is all but certain.
The Portland Trail Blazers are a team to closely monitor for any possible trades with the Mavericks, as the two were
reportedly in talks.
The Blazers are about to go on a time of rebuilding within the organization, so they might try to trade around for
forward Jerami Grant. Dallas has already expressed interest in him, and he would be the ideal third star the team
needs to have a real shot at the playoffs.
If Portland and Dallas are keeping in close communication, a possible trade for Grant might include an additional
player. Matisse Thybulle, who has strong ties to Dallas from previous offseasons, might be this player.
The five-year veteran was retained in Portland when the Trailblazers matched Dallas’ offer sheet, despite the two
sides having already agreed to a three-year contract as early as last summer.
